On September 22, 2021, the American Political Science Association announced that Eduardo Moncada, assistant professor of political science, has been awarded the 2021 Clarence Stone Scholar Award. This award recognizes up to two young scholars who are making a significant contribution to the study of urban politics.

Over the last year, Moncada has published new research on COVID-19 social distancing policies and their impact in Mexico, Brazil, and the U.S., and how the pandemic has affected organized crime in Latin America. During his time at Barnard, Moncada was also named a 2018-19 American Council of Learned Societies Fellow and received a Joint Research Project Grant from Columbia University’s Alliance Program.
